Care Instructions for Hardwood Kitchen Collection

Day-to-Day Cleaning: 

Follow these steps to maintain the finish of the piece and prevent warping.

  • Do not put in dishwasher.
  • Do not submerge or soak in water.
  • Clean with lukewarm water and a mild soap. Avoid harsh chemicals or abrasive cleaners.
  • Wet every surface to prevent the uneven absorption of water.
  • Dry vertically to allow excess water to drain off.
  • Apply a combination of food-safe oil and wax every few months (depending on use) to refresh the finish if you begin to notice an uneven sheen to the wood. This helps maintain the piece’s appearance and durability. Our food-safe board butter is recommended for best results.

Total Refinishing:

With heavy use it may be necessary to refinish your piece completely, based on how much use it gets. Follow these simple steps to bring your piece back to life:

  • Clean with mild soap and hot water to remove residue and contaminants.
  • Apply food-safe oil and wax finish to the entire surface of the piece. Ensure even coverage.
  • Allow the finish to penetrate the wood for 3-5 hours.
  • Wipe away excess finish with a clean, dry cloth.
  • Repeat as needed. It may be necessary to repeat the application process to achieve the desired level of finish and protection. Multiple coats may be applied for enhanced durability.
